In this issue we present you with a special section on the practice of prototyping. We are pleased to have Michael Arent, director of user experience standards and guidelines for SAP as the special guest editor. This section features some interesting perspectives on prototyping case studies and prototyping tools.
In our continuing endeavor to evolve the magazine, we are announcing two major changes. First we welcome aboard our new column editors, Dennis Wixon and Carolyn Gale. Dennis introduces his new column, Here's Entertainment! on interactive entertainment, and Carolyn brings us her inaugural column Bridging the Gap, which aims to help researchers make their research results accessible to practitioners.
Second, in another major change, since <interactions> is a magazine dedicated to practice, it seems our original section called Practice is no longer part of the image of the magazine: It should all be about practice. Therefore, this issue includes our last Business and Whiteboard columns. The Connections column will move into a new section with the next issue.
These columns have formed a tremendous contribution to <interactions> magazine and we salute the editors' hard work, dedication, and imagination. Susan Dray and David Siegel have always provided great thought-provoking business columns and we thank them profusely for their long tenure and devotion to making <interactions> a compelling read. Elizabeth Buie's Whiteboard was always an interesting insight into the new and different in HCI and we thank her for her years of commitment and a broad and diverse collection of columns. We are forever in the debt of these editors for laying the foundations for the magazineand let us know how you'd like us to build on that!
