History In 1996 Cabletron Systems, Inc., an industry leader in providing high-performance computer network hardware and software solutions, formed two cross-functional teams to conduct contextual inquiry studies for two important projects. The primary purpose was to evaluate the Contextual Design methodology. The studies were successful, and both teams agreed that the methodology exceeded their expectations.
